Lesson 259 Let me remember that there is no sin.

Lesson 259

Let me remember that there is no sin.

Sin is the only thought that makes the goal of God seem unattainable. What else could blind us to the obvious, and make the strange and the distorted seem more clear? What else but sin engenders our attacks? What else but sin could be the source of guilt, demanding punishment and suffering? And what but sin could be the source of fear, obscuring God's creation; giving love the attributes of fear and of attack?

Father, I would not be insane today. I would not be afraid of love, nor seek for refuge in its opposite. For love can have no opposite. You are the Source of everything there is. And everything that is remains with You, and You with it.

Lesson 259
"Let me remember that there is no sin."

Jesus describes sin as the insane idea that seeks to let illusions take the place of truth. But insane ideas are false, and so illusions could never take the place of truth. That is why there is no sin.

Jesus explains that it is hopeless to make illusions, even though we may experience separate forms as very real indeed. The Holy Spirit brings us Christ's vision, which brings to our awareness the truth that lies beyond illusions.

My practice now is to see beyond illusions and remember that we have not changed ourselves from how God created us. We are still whole, perfect and complete. We are still extensions of God's eternal perfect Love. We are still one in God. The game of sin has had no effect on reality. The game of sin is just insanity.

Today I would let it go with the help of the Holy Spirit, Who is always in my mind, waiting to return me to the truth that all is Love and nothing else. Today I will give time to remembering that there is no sin, there is no separation. Illusions of separate forms could never replace the truth. Only Heaven is truth and Jesus tells us that we are Heaven. Today I would practice letting illusions sink behind the truth. Today I would be still, with an open mind and listen. Today I would remember that there is no sin.

Remembering there is no sin brings freedom from guilt. I only feel guilt when I believe that I have done something to cause harm. But harm is impossible because I remain within the Mind of God, and God is harmless, being Love and nothing else.

It is possible for me to deceive myself by believing that I have harmed God by separating myself from Him. But belief does not make reality. If I believe that I can oppose the Will of God and make a world of separation, I will experience that world because of my desire and belief. But that does not affect God in the slightest. It only affects my experience of God because it substitutes illusions of separation for the reality of God's Love.

The Course equates sin with the thought of separation and lack of Love. Since Love is all there is, totally unified and whole, lack of Love and separation could never be in truth. There is no sin. All that I believe I have done to cause harm has never occurred in truth. Illusions can appear to battle with illusions. Illusions can appear to destroy illusions, but these games of illusion can have no effect whatsoever on the reality of God's Love, Which is our Home.

As I remember there is no sin, I open my mind to the recognition of the Love that I am in truth. All that is real in me is Love. Its only goal is to join with all that is real, everywhere. Love always unites with Love. Guilt is unimaginable in Love.

Let my heart be open today to see the unity and omnipresence of Love, everywhere. I would accept God's gift today and know my Self.

The message I give myself when I am feeling sinful or seeing someone else as sinful is this:

No matter what is happening in my life today, at this moment, God loves me with an unwavering and unchanging love. He loves me with the same love with which He created me. Nothing I can do or say or think can have any effect on how God loves me.

This comforts me and reassures me leaves my mind free to realize that sin is an illusion and that all my "sins" have no real effect. Today I will watch my mind for belief in sin and remind myself each time I find this belief that there is no sin.
